Job Opening: Colfax Family and Consumer Science Teacher Vacancy

Position: The District is accepting immediate applications for a Family and Consumer Science Teacher with priority given to applications which evidence professional training and personal commitment to the whole range of secondary learner.  Our FCCLA program is recognized as an exemplary program with students competing at state and national levels. Some of the FACSE classes are required for graduation.

Qualifications: It is the intention of the district to employ for the purpose of teaching department curriculum in Family and Consumer Science Education. All prospective employees being considered for employment will be required to complete a satisfactory background review as a condition of employment.  The background review includes:  Endorsement and certification checks to hold the position, evidence of physical, mental, and emotional health to meet the daily demands of the job, no convictions of sexual predator or child abuse laws of the state, investigation with prior employers, and evidence of being free from drug dependency.  Colfax Schools are a tobacco free environment.

Expectations: The district will expect the successful applicant to demonstrate career interest in academic instruction.  Assignment will include teaching in modernized schools in a collegial environment which supports learning strategies that cross over content subjects and emphasize responsible behaviors from students.  The district is committed to high-quality classroom instruction in all positions.  The person employed will demonstrate a professional interest in the art and science of classroom teaching.  The challenge requires one who will address the social/emotional needs of students, teach effective classroom lessons using active learning methods, organize effectively, hold students to high performance and behavior standards, and invest time, energy, and service to students in the activity program.  Ability and willingness to coach activities and/or advise clubs is preferred.
