The Bake for Good (BFG) Coordinator works with the BFG Manager to implement school and community programs that fulfill King Arthur’s vision to inspire and share the joy of baking, building stronger and healthier communities. The individual in this position will work with the BFG team to expand outreach to new, young bakers. The BFG Coordinator is responsible for teaching Bake for Good presentations and overseeing the planning and execution of the Self-Directed BFG program, including curriculum development, application management, communication with applicants, and oversight of material shipment and inventory. The individual in this role coordinates conference presentations, teacher training (train the trainer) and other events.
The Bake for Good Program is King Arthur Baking Company’s free outreach program for students in grades 4-12. The program has three goals, learn, bake, and share. Students gain basic baking skills by learning the math and science of baking yeast bread. With ingredients and materials from King Arthur, they bake the recipe themselves and then share half of what they bake as an act of kindness. Instruction for the program is available with live instruction (in-person or virtual), or via instructional video for our self-directed program. In the fall we will be launching two additional programs; a Sourdough Bread lesson designed for high school culinary students and a Mindful Baking lesson for all grade levels. Nation-wide, the program serves over 40,000 students each year.
