Paid Online PD for High School Health/FACS and Biology Teachers on Type 2 Diabetes Curriculum

Looking for a set of lessons that can be taught
onlinein-class, and/or in hybrid school settings?

Biology and Health/FACS high school teachers can join us for Paid Online PD to support teaching the
GEMNet Type 2 Diabetes UnitBiology, Homeostasis, and Type 2 Diabetes
 
How would the on-line PD work?  This PD totals 6 hours spread over ~2 weeks. Alternate dates and times can be determined given interest.

What are the lessons about? This unit uses the growth of type 2 diabetes as a phenomenon that integrates concepts about homeostasis, population traits, environmental influences, equity in health care, and more. Teachers will learn about this 5-lesson unit though a combination of online instruction and self-paced exploration using Student Road Maps. The Road Maps have been designed for online instruction and provide students with direct access to the phenomenon that drives the unit, background readings, videos created for the unit, activities students can perform at home, research data to analyze, Google Forms to collect student responses, and much more. Click here for more information about the unit.
 
What are the benefits? Participants will:Be compensated $25/hour, for a total of $150 for the courseReceive 6 STEM Clock HoursBe eligible for additional compensation to participate in the GEMNet research study using the curriculum.Receive a class set (8) of the Homeostasis Model Board

Teachers will learn about this 5-lesson unit though a combination of online instruction and self-paced exploration using Student Road Maps.
