The WA-ACTE FACSE Awards Program seeks to promote excellence in Family & Consumer Sciences Education by recognizing individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to the field, programs that exemplify the highest standards, and organizations that have conducted activities to promote and expand Career and Technical Education programs.
There are eight categories of WA-ACTE FACSE awards. All awards will be presented during the Summer Conference.
FACSE Teacher of the Year
Purpose To recognize teachers who are providing outstanding Career and Technical Education programs for youth in Family and Consumer Sciences. Recipients of this award must have demonstrated innovation in the classroom, commitment to their students, and dedication to the improvement of Family and Consumer Skills.
GRADS Teacher of the Year
Purpose To recognize GRADS teachers employed as full-time classroom instructors who are providing outstanding Career and Technical Education programs for youth in GRADS and Family and Consumer Sciences Education.
Nancy Johnson Outstanding New Teacher of the Year
Purpose The purpose of this award is to recognize new teachers in outstanding CTE FACSE programs for youth. Recipients of this award must have made significant contributions toward innovative, unique, and novel Family and Consumer Sciences programs and have shown a professional commitment early in their careers.
Outstanding Family Career and Community Leaders of America Advisor Award
Purpose To recognize an outstanding Family Career and Community Leaders of America Advisor who has significantly contributed to leadership development and growth of their students at local, state and national levels.
Outstanding Administrator of the Year
Purpose This award recognizes administrative CTE professionals at the school, district, county, state, or federal level who have demonstrated leadership in ensuring teacher and student success and have made significant contributions toward innovative, unique, and effective Career and Technical Education and Family and Consumer Sciences Programs.
Outstanding Community Service Award
Purpose The purpose of this award is to recognize individuals who used CTE FACSE to make a significant impact on their community and demonstrated leadership in programs and activities that promote student involvement in community service.
Lifetime Achievement Award in Family & Consumer Sciences
Purpose This award recognizes Family & Consumer Sciences professionals for their leadership on behalf of WA-ACTE/FACSE, their innovations in CTE, and their contributions to the field over an extended period of time.
Teacher Educator of the Year
Purpose This award recognizes teacher educators who have demonstrated innovation in teacher education, leadership in improving CTE, and commitment to preparing teachers to deliver high quality CTE programs
