We are pleased to announce openings for our 2020 Academy for Teaching about Health and Environmental Associations (ATHENA) summer workshop! Since 2010, ATHENA has hosted biennial summer workshops that bring together University of Washington scientists with teachers from across Washington State to develop hands-on health curriculum for high school students.
For the first time ever, the 2020 ATHENA workshop will be held virtually on July 31st – August 1st. This development will allow us to draw on national expertise and also to include health teachers from across the country.
The focus of our 2020 workshop will be on the health impacts of vaping, e-cigarettes and other inhaled contaminants. During the two-day workshop, organizers and participants will help make the science on these topics engaging through the development of new interactive classroom exercises, including one or more digital break-out exercises that will be appropriate for remote learning.
Spots in this interactive workshop are limited and are granted through a competitive admissions process. If you would like to apply, please fill out the Survey Monkey application form no later than May 29th. Applications will be considered on a rolling basis.
